Canine Assisted Therapy

At Waves Therapy Group, canine-assisted therapy offers an additional dimension of comfort, connection, and emotional support within the therapeutic environment. The presence of a trained therapy dog can help create a sense of safety and ease, reduce stress and anxiety, encourage emotional expression, and make the therapy experience feel more approachable particularly for children, adolescents, and clients who may initially feel apprehensive about therapy. For some individuals, interacting with a therapy dog can provide a calming sensory experience and create opportunities to practice connection, boundaries, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and trust in a natural and supportive way.

Canine-assisted therapy is thoughtfully incorporated into sessions when clinically appropriate and when the client is comfortable with and interested in

having a canine companion present.

Atticus has a gentle presence and an intuitive ability to remain calm and attuned to the therapeutic environment. Through his training and experience, he understands that his role during sessions is not simply to provide companionship, but to support a safe, welcoming, and emotionally comfortable space for clients.
